Counselling can help you to work through past events and emotions such as childhood experiences; past relationships; trauma; abuse; bereavement and sickness, helping you to prevent them affecting your present and your future. We are all aware that our past affects us every day, counselling can help you to take back control and write the script yourself for your own future. Counselling can also help you through current situations by clearing the metaphorical fog and allowing you to take the time to look, without distraction, at the presenting issue. The counsellor will help you to see clearly what is best for you and help you to achieve your goals.

Phobias; fears; weight-loss; self-esteem and panic attacks can all be aided with counselling.

You will know yourself which part of you needs attention and counselling can help you give yourself the care that you need in order to become the person you were destined to be.

Psychotherapy is delving into the deeper meanings and reasons behind where you are and how you feel and behave as a result. The past has often shaped your future and as a result, is affecting your present. The past can motivate and mould you into a positive rounded individual, but can also have a negative counter effect on you. Relationships, parents, teachers, and life experiences can push you into coping in a certain way, which although these may have worked in the past, is counter productive in your present and could hinder your future too.

            

Once you understand the way you are, counselling can bring the past into the present and reframe things to work for good.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic tool to help you move forward to where you want to be. In a very relaxed state, you are more likely to be receptive to positive suggestion, and able to use your mind while relaxed, to work on issues which are causing you emotional distress. Hypnotherapy is typically associated with habits phobias and self-esteem, but can be effective with a whole range of issues, especially alongside counselling and psychotherapy.

 

What is on offer to you?

I offer one to one Counselling, Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy in a private, comfortable setting, on a confidential basis.

As an integrated psychotherapist, my philosophy is based upon a person-centred approach as outlined by Carl Rogers, but, where agreed, I will use other techniques to help you progress on your journey to effective living.

Our first meeting would be a consultation where we discuss what you need, and how I can best help you. We can then decide the length and frequency of sessions and nature of therapy.

This initial consultation also gives us the opportunity to meet and decide whether we feel at ease with each other. Once we begin, I will regularly assess the work with you to make sure that you are on the right path. We will make a contract with each other to ensure our safety, and define boundaries, as outlined by British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

All these measures are taken to build up a safe environment where you can begin to flourish as an individual and move towards living more resourcefully.
